Murder at the Howard Johnson's - Peninsula Players ⇒

'All is fair in love? Even murder? That's the question posed by this light and funny suspense comedy about a love triangle in a Howard Johnson Motor Inn. In the first episode, Mitchell, an obvious and commonplace dentist who sees himself as the dashing, heroic type and Arlene, a middle aged "Femme Fatale" of sorts, plan to murder her husband Paul, a blundering used car salesman. In the second episode, having discovered that Mitchell has been unfaithful, Arlene allies herself with Paul to do away with Mitchell. In the third episode, the two men, feeling foolish and betrayed themselves, join forces against Arlene. This murder attempt, like the others, fails.

HMS Pinafore is among the most popular Gilbert and Sullivan operas, perhaps becouse of its infectious tunes and generally well-constructed libretto. Gilbert embued HMS Pinafore with mirth and silliness to spare. The musicals's saucy satire reprises and builds upon one of the Sorcerer's themes: Love between members of different social classes.

Roses of Picardy - Palm Court Light Orchestra Siver Jubilee Season ⇒

Roses of Picardy is the title of the latest Palm Court Light Orchestra concert, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 4yh at the Mary Winspear Centre, beginning at 2: 30 p.m.
The special event is the first concert of the group's silver jubilee season and takes its name from Haydn Wood's famous WWI song, Roses of Picardy is a wartime ballad written by lyricist Frederick Weatherly. Palm Court conductor and founder Charles Job always says he can't imagine a concert without something by Wood so it's apt indeed to kick off what is sure to be a great season for this remarkable orchestra in this way.
