Recognized by his peers as one of Canada's best performing songwriters, Lennie Gallant is a native of Prince Edward Island. This prolific songwriter has recorded nine albums (seven in English and two in French), which have won him a host of awards and nominations from both the JUNOs and East Coast Music Awards. His album, "When We Get There" was nominated for a JUNO Award and went into space aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour in July 2009. Canadian astronaut Julie Payette chose the album for the astronaut crew to enjoy.

He was inducted into the Order of Canada where it was said, "Gallant has garnered much respect for his hard hitting songs chronicling the lives of people dealing with tremendous adversity and serious issues.As a performer, Gallant's intense delivery reaches down to the very soul of his audience, moving effortlessly through stirring narratives, comic observations, and hard driving rhythms. He has toured extensively internationally, playing festivals and concerts accompanied by roots rock bands, and in acoustic settings. As a fundraiser for the Sidney North Saanich Library, the Friends of the Library are hosting a presentation by noted garden designer Louise Boutin on Thursday, April14th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Louise will discuss garden design and share an inspiring slideshow of gorgeous gardens to provoke discussion. With refreshments, door prizes and new plant introductions from Russell Nursery, it promises to be a lively and informative evening.

The first Touch of Saltspring Craft & Art Show originated on Saltspring Island in 1991. As the show gained popularity with many artisans coming on-board, the event was moved to the Panorama Recreation Center in North Saanich. Today with over 230 crafters and artisans, it is the largest attended arts & crafts show on Vancouver Island. Double Diamond - The Definitive NEIL DIAMOND Tribute December 9th 8pm⇒

DOUBLE DIAMOND - One of North America's finest Neil Diamond tribute shows based in Victoria, B.C. Canada. Show presenter and tribute artist Bill Zaalberg has successfully re-created the Neil Diamond World Tour Concert to a "T" The group consists of 12 professional stage show members - All extremely talented. 4 brass, 3 female backup vocalists, and a tight 4-piece rhythm section. The three-hour show delivers a complete entertaining experience. They have their own opening act: "TUSK" (20 min.) as a tribute to "Stevie Nicks" as performed by Kathleen Zaalberg who many have stated that she's a "dead ringer" for the part together with vocalists Tara Lynn, Aurora Scott and Suzanne Stirling backed by several members from the full show. DOUBLE DIAMOND delivers the closest experience to the actual Neil Diamond touring concerts in the world.

Handel's masterpiece "Messiah" will be performed twice in Sidney on Saturday December 17th at 7 pm followed by a matinée performance on Sunday December 18th at 2 pm. Both performances are at St Elizabeth's Church, 10030 Third Street, Sidney. The Via Choralis Chamber Choir and orchestrawill be conducted by Nicholas Fairbank. Tickets are $25 regular price and $10 for students and are available from Tanners Books (Sidney), from members and at the door.

"Robin Hood" is a traditional pantomime designed to be enjoyed by all the family. Written especially for Peninsula Players, it is based on the rivalry between the legendary folk hero and the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. Many of the characters will be familiar although some of them may not be exactly as you imagined them. There will also be some characters that you might not have expected to meet in Sherwood Forest.
